My niece visited us from North Carolina this weekend and asked me to suggest a restaurant. I have to admit SOCU is one of my favorites in Mobile. She was impressed by our waiter, the food and ambiance. What a great time we had. This little girl, now a valued professional insisted on picking up the check and treating us, her aunt and uncle. Then outside to enjoy LODA. Great evening out starting with dinner at SOCU. Betty Mack Shinn
I saw this place earlier in the day while visiting another business in downtown Mobile. I'm so glad that I chose this place for dinner on my last evening in Mobile. SOCU is a classy Southern restaurant in the heart of Mobile, Alabama. It sits on the corner of Dauphine Street and N Hamilton Street. I tried having lunch earlier in the day but they weren't open so I decided to return for dinner. My waitress was wonderful. She is a nice, warm and classy human being. She really made me feel welcomed and made sure that I had everything I needed to enjoy my dining experience. I also loved how she expressed, in a very heartfelt way, gratitude to me for dining with SOCU that evening. SOCU has a nice classy and historic feel to it. I ordered Deviled Eggs for an appetizer and they were really good! I recommend getting them. I also ordered Ora's Double Cut Pork Chop. This dish is Two Flash Fried Pork Chops with Crawfish Gravy. Delicious! My mouth waters as I write this. It also comes with two sides and a piece of cornbread. I chose the Bourbon Fired Candied Yams and SOCU Cabbage (Green Cabbage, Red Cabbage, Shaved Carrots, Bacon, Onions and Creole Pepper Mix. Food was fantastic! I would definitely return here again on another visit to Mobile. Ambiance and Service were fantastic as well! I highly recommend SOCU is you're ever in Mobile. I hope your visit will be as memorable as mine was.
My Gawd this food was amazing. We ordered the hot honey chicken wings, shrimp and grits, fried pork chop, Mac and cheese, YAMS, peach cobbler cheesecake. EVERYTHING was a home run. Service felt like I was with family. Atmosphere was a vibe too!
We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at SOCU while staying in downtown Mobile. We shared the seafood platter and sides of grits, yams and corn. Everything was delicious! The fries catfish was perfectly breaded and fried lightly so it retained its fluffy texture. The shrimp and oysters were also very good and tender. The yams and grits were outstanding and the jalapeño corn was tasty too. We decided to split a dessert and asked our waitress for her suggestion. She quickly suggested the banana pudding. Oh boy!! What a delight! Maybe the best banana pudding I have ever tasted! This service was very good and out food came out in a timely manner. If you're looking for a good meal in downtown Mobile, I highly recommend SOCU!
I've been trying to get to SoCu for some time now and after almost three years, I FINALLY made it. Let me tell you, it was WORTH EVERY MOMENT!!! The service was amazing! Our waitress, Sabrina took really good care of us. Made some really awesome recommendations and was super attentive to our needs. The establishment was really clean and and the aesthetic was super cute. Staff was really friendly and made my guest and I feel like we were right at home. Even the General Manager came and checked on us a few times and made sure we were good. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Amazing food, amazing people, and an experience that was out of this world. THANK YOU, SoCu for this experience. It was definitely worth it! I can't wait to come back and for you to open up your location in the DC Metro area.
What kind of real restaurant in the south don't have cocktail sauce. Or even Horseradish to make my own. Lol. Other than that it was delicious. No complaints and I am nicely full. Bria did a good job also. Gotcha !!!!! Til next time SOCU
